There has never been a group of people petitioning the Admiral together. Never. I don't know what he'd do if we could make that happen. Laugh at us, probably. But I think it's worth finding out.

Think he's a consequences sort of guy if he doesn't like the petition?

No. I've seen people destroy parts of the Barge, attack the ship itself, go after him...he doesn't get his hands dirty. That's why I think he won't listen to us, Taylor, I want anyone petitioning to understand that this is like an expedition and we don't know what we'll find out. No one's hopes should be up but at the same time, no stone unturned.

I haven't seen anyone but you giving serious suggestions for consequences, but that might just be that everyone else on our side is resigned to nothing being done. Any faces we should reach out to, off the top of your head?

Kiryu has a level head, and would probably have good ideas.

[ukan]

I'll talk to him. I don't think it would hurt if you did, too, if you're comfortable. The more we get receptive people thinking about this, the better.

On the flip side, for now I'm going to avoid talking about it around people who are opposed to changing things. We don't need an argument to make people who are already demoralized more afraid to speak up. We can circle back to the fence sitters later.

Hard not to argue sometimes, especially when someone seems to have 'any discipline is torture' as their starting point.

I should probably disclose I have someone very specific in mind lately when I talk about consequences. There are people who will know that.

[Yeah, he can't argue that.] Does he even have a temp yet? [Wait. He's heard only a little of what's been going on--he's been scrambling to keep certain things going, and let himself fall out of the loop.] Did he hurt you?

Don't think so. But he's friends with way too many wardens already. It wasn't me. Thomas Blanky, if you know him? Threw a bomb for him to catch and blew his hands to shreds.

Fuck. [Exhausted, angry, disgusted. He's feeling a lot of things at once.] So what then, he was put in Zero for a few hours, I assume?

Longer, I think. I stayed away, but I didn't see or hear about him again until after the Port.

But still, that's not even two weeks.

I don't suppose anyone but you has voiced any ideas as far as consequences go.

Steve Rogers contacted me about the same time you did. I don't know him, but he sounds fed up with it all too.

[He's usually very careful, very measured with his reactions. But that seems to have surprised him out of that and made his day. His year, even.]

Steve did? What did he say?

That he also agrees with me on the topic of consequence, and that the Admiral's not likely to listen. Sounds on the jaded side.

He has reason to be. I'm hoping to give him reasons to be less so.

Did you two come up with specific ideas?
