Well, good, because if somebody put you of all people in Zero, we would be having words.

I didn't know you and the bugs were that attached, though.

It's mostly a numbers thing. Before I got here, the Barge had a few hives of bees, and the usual little moths and spiders and flies that always live around humans.

Then I came. And got people to give me wasps and hornets and very large spiders. And now I've been breeding everything for two years. So now we have a few... thousand times the population of bugs this place should have. Which is fine, with them all under control. No one's getting stung, they're not eating the food or infesting people's cabins.

[Which is not at all Taylor's problem with Zero, but easier to talk about.]

Uh, okay, wouldn't it have been easier not to breed all those bugs? Especially the inedible ones. Maggots I get, but are you really breeding hornets?

I like bugs.

No, the real reason is that I use them. I spent months figuring out perfect pollination, and now the Barge greenhouse and gardens make all the food they can because I micromanage the hell out of it. I make clothes. I patrol what I can watching for trouble. I found people in the fire so others could rescue them. They're eyes and hands for me.

And honestly, they're almost all edible.

Wouldn't eat the stingers, but sure. Crunchy.

Hmmmm... I bet the maggots are more filling, though.

If anyone tries to put you in Zero, tell me, okay? I'm good at kicking up a fuss!
